Transition Troy is a collection of groups and individuals with a positive vision of a sustainable Troy, acting on that vision and building that future.

As part of the worldwide Transition Towns movement, Transition Troy seeks to foster relevant local responses in Troy and neighboring communities to what the movement recognizes as the three global crises of our time:

  • energy
  • environment
  • economy

which traditional top down, global institutions and leadership sectors — governmental, commercial, academic, or otherwise — seemingly lack the agility to effectively address.

  1. Hello,

I am a sociologist studying the Transition Town movement and am interested in speaking with activists/members involved in the movement about why they got involved and their experiences with the movement in general. I will be presenting a paper on the topic at the American Studies conference and would like to enhance the work with some more personal accounts.

If anyone is interested, please email me at ja9@williams.edu and we can discuss details.

    Thanks! John
